At Tongue and Groove we build, sell, and rent custom-made structures – from tiny houses on wheels to tiny taverns to Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs). Whether functioning completely off the grid on a remote plot of land or plugging into an existing home in town, we’ll work with you to construct the perfect house, office, food cart – whatever you can imagine! For the past decade, Jesse Russell has worked as a television producer in New York and Los Angeles. In 2014, he felt it was time to return to his roots and his hometown of Bend, Oregon. When he arrived, he found the city in an affordable housing crisis. Gone were the days of the 100K home. In an effort to solve this problem, he started Tongue and Groove Tiny Homes with his childhood friend Kit Blackwelder. He is now producing tiny homes, tiny taverns and working on a cottage housing development.

We are not only builders; we are advocates for the tiny house movement. We believe this movement represents a fundamental shift in how people view housing and, more importantly, how they live their lives. Living in a house that is less than 400 square feet won’t appeal to everyone. A growing number of people, however, have concluded that more square footage doesn’t lead to more happiness and actually adds complication to your life. Living smaller allows you to focusing on the quality and quantity of your experiences; having time to contribute to your community; and creating space to live a meaningful life. A tiny house isn’t a cure all, but it can have a hugely positive impact on the way that we live.
